My Pretty Pink Box

My friend introduced me to My Pretty Pink Box (www.myprettypinkbox.com). Basically, they send you a bunch of beauty product samples for really cheap. I payed around $11.00 and got a box full of some really awesome products to try. They also send a couple of full size products as well. They release a new "box" every month filled with different samples. I got my first Pretty Pink Box a few days ago.
A full set of fake nails. Probably won't use these since I gave up fake nails in 6th grade. My friend and I decided to get acrylic nails without asking our parents at the mall. After a week of barely being able to dress myself with those things on, I chiseled them off. Haven't been a fan since.

This stuff was interesting. It is apparently a "deodorant cream" that lasts for several days. I tried it and it seems to work okay, but the consistency is a little weird and settles into the cracks in your underarm, which looks a little odd. It might be good for camping or something like that.

A tiny bottle of Fenix sunscreen. Haven't tried this yet.

Addiction Glossy Lip Balm from Monet Minerals. I LOVE THIS LIP BALM! Seriously, it is amazing. The minty smell is so good and it is so smooth on your lips. On their website they have a ton of different flavors and you can get it in a tube or a pot. I think I will have to buy more of this.

I got several full sized samples from Heaven and Earth Essentials. The chapstick tube is actually an "All Natural Lotion Stick"."Blue Moon Dreams" Whipped Sugar Scrub from Heaven and Earth Essentials.
A 2 oz. tub of "Tortured Pumpkin" Powder Lotion. I have no idea why this is called powder lotion because it is neither a powder nor a lotion. Maybe they put the wrong label on the bottle. It is definitely pumpkin scented though. It has the same texture as the Sugar Scrub. I used it as an exfoliate on my elbows and it smoothed my skin really nicely.

I also got a ton of little sample packets from Senna Cosmetics. I'm looking forward to trying these out and I'll post reviews. Included were:
-Brightening Polish (a daily exfoliator with jojoba and yucca)
-Delicate Milky cleanser
-Eye Contour Cream
-Oil Free Makeup Remover
-Lift and Lighten Eye Cream
-Calming Black Tea Tonic
-Honey Almond Scrub and Mask
-Clarifying Lemon Toner
-Purifying Cucumber Gel Cleanser
-Hydrating Botanical Tonor
-Vitasome Recovery Cream

I can't wait to try some of these out!

MAC Haul

Okay, I need to admit something. I've never bought MAC makeup before. I think it goes back to when I was in makeup school and my teacher told us us that MAC is NOT the only good makeup out there and don't be one of those artists who refuse to use or try any other brands.

This past weekend, I was was on an outlet mall frenzy and discovered the Cosmetic Company Outlet. They sell discounted high end cosmetics, like MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Prescriptives, etc. at outlet prices.

So I finally bought some MAC eyeshadows. I have to say, I love the pigmentation and how soft and silky they are.

I love golds and silvers, so I bought Henna and Silverthorn.

Swatches: Henna and Silverthorn

I also found these Mineralize Eye Shadows in Earthy Riches (a purple/grey), Word-of-Mouth (a trio of shimmery beige, copper, and grey), and Fresh Green Mix (a green duo).

Left to right: Earthy Riches, Fresh Green Mix, Grey/Copper/Beige separately from Word-of-Mouth, then Word-of-Mouth swiped with all three colors together.

So far, I've tried the Silverthorn and Word-of-Mouth. The coppery color in WOM is a little hard to use and seems more glittery than the other mineral shadows, but if you mix it with the other two in the trio, it adds a nice copper shimmer.

Silverthorn is a great silver. Actually looks silver and not grey like a lot of other "silver" shadows do.

Ulta Eyeshadows

Ulta was having one of their Buy one, get one free sales on their eyeshadows. I've never used their eyeshadows, so I picked up a few.
Left to right: Silk, Sage, Aztec Gold, and Sapphire

The shadows aren't as pigmented as some, but they blend really well together. I used the blue, gold, and beige together the other day and they looked great. I wouldn't pay full price for them, but not bad if they're on sale.

Huge NYX Haul

I just bought a ton of NYX eyeshadows and pencils from Ulta and Cherry Culture.com. I love the Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils. They work great as eyeshadow bases or by themselves.

Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils and a regular NYX eyeliner in White.

Left to right: Lemon, Gold, Pots & Pans, Dark Brown, Black Bean, White regular eyeliner pencil.

The Jumbo Pencils are really soft, so they're hard to use as eyeliner unless you use a small brush and they'll smear really easily unless you set them with eyeshadow. I still don't know why the lime green one is called "Lemon" either.

Chick, Wildfire, Ocean, and Exotic Green

White Pearl, Hollywood, Silver, Charcoal

The Hollywood is more of a glitter...not much color shows up.

My Favorite Color (actually the color name), Flamingo, Volcano, Eggplant
Highlight, Golden Bronze, Golden Dune, Deep Bronze

Atlantic and Frosted Ocean

Urban Decay Sterophonic 24/7 Set

I've been dying to try Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliners for a while. So when I saw this set at Ulta for $29, I had to get it. It comes with 4 mini 24/7 eyeliners and a Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner. Sephora carries the Hi-Fi 24/7 Set, which is the same thing with different colors. The Stereophonic set is exclusive to Ulta.

Swatches (Left to Right): Underground, Gunmetal, Crash, Zero, and Covet. Covet is not included in the set. Ulta had a special mini-eyeliner gift with a $30 UD purchase. They were out of every color but Covet, but I really like the teal color.

Underneath is a swatch of the Midnight Cowboy glitter eyeliner. It's pretty much just a gold glitter in a clear liquid.

Left to right: Midnight Cowboy glitter eyeliner, Underground, Gunmetal, Crash, Covet, and Zero.

So far, I LOVE the Urban Decay eyeliners. They are so smooth and I love the shimmer in the color. However, Underground is a little light. I'd like to try Bourbon, a darker brown.

New Blog!

So, this is a new blog...My name is Tara, I'm 23 (24 in a few days on October 12). I went to Joe Blasco makeup School in Orlando in 2006. I don't really do makeup full time, but I occasionally do some freelance. I live with my husband in Southern California.

Hopefully, I'll have some posts up tomorrow about the tons of stuff I bought at Ulta this week.
